Applied Chemistry

COURSE OBJECTIVE: To provide  Knowledge on chemical nature and properties of Engineering Materials.

After completion of the course students should be able to:

CO1  : Apply the phase rule to interpret the alloy diagrams and understand the influence of alloying on properties of metals.

CO2 :  Relate the structure and properties of polymers.

CO3 : Identify the forms of corrosion and suggest suitable methods to control corrosion.

CO4 : Comprehend the working principles of batteries and fuel cells.

CO5 : Recognize the importance of lubricants, water, refractories, ceramics, adhesives and sealants in   engineering.
